Santa Barbara Summer Poetry Workshop

Dear Perie,

I'm finally coming down after the high of 2 days of poetry non-stop at Pico Adobe & can't erase the image of a play on a stage: the characters crowded ‘round  an old-wooden table in a semi-darkroom, late afternoon, dressed in clothes that tell us who we are & each takes a turn to read a poem written on the spot with little time & even less thought about a special thing that's happened to us & forever changed our lives & the script writes itself as we laugh & cry, spill our guts all over the place & mix them up& stuff them back in, some of you in me, some of me in you & some of everyone in each of us that takes away the loneliness.
